You might already be familiar with working with high-performance liquid chromatography equipment, but the units that you have worked with in the past might have been on the bigger side. If this is the case, then you might want to look into purchasing portable units instead. In fact, even when looking at portable HPLC units, you might want to look at the smaller units that are available. It might seem like a bigger unit will be better for performing testing and research, or you might only be accustomed to using a bigger unit. However, a small and portable HPLC system might just be ideal for you for these reasons and more.
You Can Take it in the Field
Depending on the type of work that you do with your HPLC machine, there might be a need for you to take it with you in the field. For example, if you perform soil testing at oil sites, mining sites, or agricultural fields, then you might need to be able to take your machine along with you. If you have a big and bulky machine, then this can be very challenging to install. If you choose a small and portable HPLC machine, then it should be pretty light in weight and shouldn't take up too much space. You might even be able to fit in the glove box or in another small area of your work truck or other work vehicle. Plus, you shouldn't have to worry about it being so big, heavy, and bulky that it's a pain to drag to the site where you will be collecting samples and performing research and testing.
It'll Fit on Your Desk
You or someone else might want to be able to work comfortably at your desk when testing on samples, and this simply might not be possible if you have a bigger HPLC machine to work with. If you have a smaller unit that fits on your desk, however, it should be a breeze for you to work in a comfortable space.
It'll Typically Be More Efficient
You might be able to perform valuable research and testing with an HPLC system, so you might feel that both the cost of buying the system and the cost of keeping it up and running are well worth it. However, if you can purchase a system that is more affordable and more efficient to operate, you can save your business some extra money. Luckily, smaller HPLC units are often more affordable to operate.
